Superfood - Mushrooms for your skin

Posted by Teresa Foo on

Lingzhi (灵芝) or Reishi mushroom is a medicinal fungus that has been used over thousand years in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).

Reishi mushroom for your skin

In TCM practices, Reishi mushroom is used for it's tonifying effects, antioxidants, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and antiviral properties. It has abundance of beta glucan (a type of polysaccharide) which makes the mushroom such a potent ingredient. It helps to strengthen Qi. Reishi mushroom is also an #adaptogenic plant that can improve the body's defences against environmental aggressors. In short, Ling Zhi or Reishi mushroom is used to restore inner balance in the body when consumed orally.

So what does Reishi mushroom do for our skin? In several peer reviewed in vivo and in vitro studies, Reishi mushroom extract in skincare has demonstrated improvements in skin firmness, strengthening the skin barrier against oxidative stress and offers long lasting hydration to the skin.

That's why we love to use Reishi mushroom extract in our product - Awakening Skin Tonic. You'll also find Shiitake mushroom and Snow mushroom extracts in the skin tonic.

Can you tell how much we love mushrooms? 😁
P.S. We love the documentary Fantastic Fungi on Netflix. You should watch it if you haven't.
